Positive Workforce, Inc. was founded in 1987 at a pivotal moment, when minority workers across New York City were fighting for fair access to careers in the construction trades. Community coalitions were calling for accountability, equity, and real pathways into an industry that had long excluded them. In response, Positive Workforce emerged as a trusted bridge between local residents and the construction sector—partnering with developers, contractors, and unions to open doors, expand opportunity, and ensure meaningful community participation. What began as an advocacy effort has grown into a comprehensive workforce organization dedicated to preparing, training, and connecting workers to sustainable careers.
